Michael Fabian

Biography

As founding shareholder of the firm, Michael H. Fabian has won numerous cases throughout his 40-year career that have created groundbreaking national precedents in establishing and protecting the rights of policyholders ranging from homeowners to Fortune 500 companies.

A nationally recognized expert on insurance law, he is an editor of Michigan Insurance Law and Practice, published by the Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE), as well as co-author of the chapter on Property Insurance Law. He also authored the Fire Insurance Chapter in ICLE’s Causes of Action Formbook.

As a property insurance attorney, he frequently lectures on property insurance issues to numerous legal and professional groups throughout the country. Michael has also served as an appointed member of the National Fire Protection Association’s Technical Committee on Fire Investigations, which publishes NFPA 921: Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations, the authoritative text on fire investigations, and on the Insurance Law Committee of the State Bar of Michigan.

In recognition of his achievements in advancing the rights of homeowners and business owners after fires and property damage claims, Michigan Lawyers Weekly magazine honored Michael as a 2011 “Leader in the Law,” an accomplishment presented to only 25 attorneys throughout Michigan. Best Lawyers magazine named Michael its insurance law “Lawyer of the Year” for 2022. This is the fifth time the legal publication has selected Michael for this honor, which is awarded annually to one lawyer in each practice area in local communities. Michael has also been selected as a Michigan “Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers magazine every year since 2006, a “Top Lawyer” by DBusiness magazine, and a “Best Lawyer in America” in insurance law by Best Lawyers magazine.

He is a member of the Oakland County Bar Association, American Bar Association (Tort and Insurance Practice Section), American Bar Association (Property Insurance Committee), State Bar of Michigan, Michigan Association of Justice, American Association of Justice and the Wayne County Mediation Tribunal. He earned a B.A. with honors from the James Madison College of Michigan State University and a J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law.
